Fairy is a member-owned cooperative marketplace and accompaniment ecosystem for people moving through transitions and recovering from extractive systems. This policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, how we protect it, and your rights regarding your data. It applies to every part of Fairy, online and in person, including the app, the website, the member portal, cooperative membership, the Fairy Fund, Tables, Rooms, and Retreats, the Discovery Assessment, merchandise purchases, and the Marketplace, and to all users, including registered providers, registered buyers, members, and unregistered visitors.
We use your information to operate the platform, verify provider identities, administer membership and the Fairy Fund, fulfill merchandise orders, run Tables, retreats, and programs, personalize your experience, communicate with you, enforce our community guidelines, improve the platform, and meet our legal obligations. We do not sell your personal information. Fairy offers advertising placements to sellers and external businesses, and we may use limited information, such as your general location and your preferences, to show you relevant ads within Fairy. Ads are served by Fairy on its own platform, not by outside advertising networks. If you take part in the referral program, we use referral codes to track sign-ups and qualifying purchases so we can award credits.
Provider profiles (name, photo, bio, services, portfolio, reviews) are visible to all users. When a booking is confirmed, relevant contact details are shared between the buyer and provider to facilitate the service.
We share information with trusted third parties only as needed to run Fairy, including Stripe for payments, our cloud hosting providers for infrastructure, Formspree for website forms, and Calendly for scheduling. All third parties are contractually required to handle your data securely.
When sellers or external businesses advertise on Fairy, we use your general location and preferences to show you relevant ads on our own platform. We share only aggregated, non-identifying performance information with advertisers, never your personal data.
We may disclose your information to comply with a legal obligation, protect the safety of any person, or investigate fraud or violations of our Terms.
To exercise any of these rights, email ruth@tryfairy.com with the subject line "Data Request." We respond within 30 days. You may also delete your account directly through the app at any time.
We retain your data while your account is active. When you delete your account: your public profile is removed within 30 days; transaction, membership, and merchandise order records may be kept up to 7 years for legal, accounting, and tax purposes; messages may be retained for up to 90 days; identity verification documents are deleted within 30 days of verification completion.
We use HTTPS/TLS encryption in transit, secure access-controlled data storage, and Stripe's PCI-DSS compliant payment infrastructure. No method of internet transmission is completely secure. Use a strong, unique password and contact us immediately if you suspect unauthorized access.
Fairy is not intended for anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect information from minors. If you believe a minor has created an account, contact us at ruth@tryfairy.com and we will delete it promptly.
Our website uses cookies to keep you logged in, remember preferences, and understand how visitors use the site. You can control cookies through your browser settings. We do not use cross-site tracking or sell data to advertising networks.
The Fairy Discovery Assessment at tryfairy.com/discovery runs entirely in your browser. Your answers and results stay on your device and are not transmitted to us unless you choose to send them, for example when you book a consultation. The assessment is offered for personal reflection only and is not a clinical, psychological, medical, or professional evaluation.
When you start a Fairy membership, complete a form on tryfairy.com (such as the membership, contact, advocate, or Incubator application form), purchase merchandise, or ask to receive updates, we collect the information you choose to give us, such as your name, email address, shipping address, and the details of your message. We use it only to respond to you, provide the service or product you requested, and send you updates if you opted in. Membership dues are recurring monthly subscriptions billed through Stripe. Merchandise is purchased through Stripe checkout, and your shipping address is used only to process and deliver your order. Stripe processes your card information directly under its own terms, and Fairy never sees or stores your full card number.
If you are a Launch tier member, you are asking us to help promote your business. As part of that tier, we may feature your business name, profile, and the details you provide in member newsletters, member announcements, and similar communications to the Fairy network, so that members and potential buyers can find you. We use this information only to promote you, and you can ask us to pause or stop this promotion at any time by emailing ruth@tryfairy.com
If you apply to the Fairy Fund, you may share financial and personal information about your circumstances. We treat this information as confidential and use it only to review your request and administer the Fund. Access to Fund applications is limited to those responsible for administering the Fund.
We will notify you of material changes via email or in-app notice at least 30 days before they take effect. Continued use of Fairy after that date constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
